Week 1 - Morning Prayer - Day of Mary Most Holy

INVITATORY

HYMN
Vol. XVIII, August 15, 1925

Holy, holy, holy
honor and glory
to the supreme Will
of our great and ruling Lord!

And glory to Mary most holy
and three times holy
is this creature who
let the supreme Will act!

O Mary, you are
all beautiful, pure and holy
in the glory of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Ant. 1 The sun is fire, but it is also light and heat. You, most Holy Trinity, are symbolized in the sun.

Psalm 1 Vol. II, February 28, 1899

The fire is the Father,
the light is the Son,
the heat is the Holy Spirit,
but the sun is one.

Just as fire is inseparable
from its light and heat;
so too is the power of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit one.

Likewise, since fire produces
light and heat at the same time;
you can’t have fire without
having light and heat as well.

In the same way, the Father doesn’t come before
the Son and the Holy Spirit,
since all three of them have
the same eternal beginning.

Light, as the image of your majesty,
extends everywhere;
in the same way, you my God,
penetrate everywhere with your immensity.

Glory be to the Father….

Ant. 1 The sun is fire, but it is also light and heat. You, most Holy Trinity, are symbolized in the sun.

Ant. 2 How many times did she cry bitter tears over our immense sorrow.

Psalm 2
It was this heavenly creature, Mary most holy,
who understood the story of our Will.

We told her everything about it,
just as you would tell a story to a little child:
how unthankful man had confined our Will
to its own divine circle.

How many times did she cry bitter tears
over our pains and man’s terrible ruin!

She took our defense to heart;
and not only did she make up
for all the sorrows of the supreme Will,
but she also made all the acts
of the creatures hers, as well.

By absorbing all of our Will into herself
which they had rejected,
she made reparation to it and loved it.

By holding our Will,
as if on deposit in her virginal heart,
she prepared it as food for all creatures.

So, can you see what food it is that
this most loving mother feeds her children with?
It cost her unheard-of pains
and her whole life to obtain this food for them.

She couldn’t love her children more;
by giving them this food,
her love had reached its peak.

So, of all the titles she holds,
the most beautiful one she can be given is
“Mother and Queen of the Divine Will”.

Glory be to the Father…..

Ant. 2 How many times did she cry bitter tears over our sorrow.

Ant. 3 True worship consists in reducing yourself to nothing, only to find yourself again in the divine realm.

Psalm 3 Vol. VI, December 17, 1903

My Jesus, what did your most holy mother do
when she met you on the way to Calvary,
weighted down with the heavy wooden cross?

She just made a truly deep,
and simple act of adoration.

And the simpler an act is,
the easier it is to unite to God,
the most simple Spirit.

So, in this act she infused herself in me
and continued that which
I was doing in my interior.

This was most pleasing to me,
more so than if she had done
anything else even greater.

Glory be to the Father…..

Ant. 3 True worship consists in reducing yourself to nothing, only to find yourself again in the divine realm.

SHORT READING Vol. II, August 15, 1899; Vol. IV, January 10, 1903

“The first song the angels and saints sang to my mother when she came into paradise was the Hail Mary, because it contains the most beautiful praises and the greatest honors and it renews the joy that she had when she became Mother of God.

And the words she likes best and which are the most pleasing to her are
‘The Lord is with you’; because as soon as she heard the angel pronounce them, she felt within herself the divine Being communicate all of himself to her. So she felt covered by the divine power to the point of dispersing her being in its presence, and she remained with the divine power as her own.”

PRAYER

O Jesus, so great, infinite and immense, you reduced yourself so much and enclosed yourself in the purest womb of Mary most holy for love of us, grant that through her maternal intercession we may become small as you did, so that we can always live in the purest bosom of your most holy Will.
You live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
