Week 2 - Evening Prayer - Day of Mary Most Holy

G. Oh God, come to reign in us.

E. Lord, let your Will come quickly.

Glory be to the Father...

HYMN (Vol. VIII, April 5, 1908)

Oh, sweetest Mother,
all your holiness
came from within the divine Fiat!

Not one movement, or breath,
or step, or action came from you;
instead, everything without exception
came from the divine Fiat!

What holiness, riches,
glory and divine honors
the all-powerful Fiat
produced in you!

All-powerful Fiat, fruitful and holy,
who could ever understand you?
Your immensity leaves us speechless.

Never-ending oceans
of virtue, grace and grandeur,
glory, joy and beauty
descend from you! Amen.

Ant.1 What an atmosphere of peace and of goods are contained in just the words, “Will of God!”

Psalm 1 Vol. VII, February 12, 1906

As long as the soul
lives in the Divine Will,
it is bathed in a light
just like the God it lives in.

In heaven too, it will shine more than the others;
it will be the cause of greater glory
for the saints themselves.

Just think about it: what an atmosphere of peace
and of goods are contained
in just the words, “Will of God!”
At the mere thought of living in this atmosphere,
the soul already feels changed.

A divine air enfolds it;
it feels its humanness dissolve;
it feels divinized.

It turns from impatient to patient;
from proud to humble, docile, charitable, obedient;
from poor to rich.

All the virtues rise to form a circle
around this soul
that lives in the Will of God.

So, the soul becomes dispersed in God,
losing its own boundaries
and acquiring the boundaries of the Divine Will.

Glory be to the Father…

Ant.1 What an atmosphere of peace and of goods are contained in just the words, “Will of God!”

Ant. 2 Sin is nothing but to withdraw from the Will of God.

Psalm 2 Vol. VII, February 23, 1906

It wasn’t just my hands and feet
that were nailed to the cross,
but every particle
of my humanity, of my soul and of my divinity.

They were all nailed
in the Will of the Father,
because the crucifixion was the Will of the Father;
so, I was completely nailed and transformed
in his Will, and this was necessary.

Because what is sin but to withdraw from the Will of God,
from everything that is good and holy
that God has given to us;
to believe the creature of itself is something
and to offend the Creator.

To make up for this boldness
and to shatter this idol
that the creature makes of itself,
I wanted to completely dissolve my will
and at the cost of great sacrifice,
live by the Will of the Father.

Glory be to the Father…

Ant. 2 Sin is nothing but to withdraw from the Will of God.

Ant. 3 The most beautiful act is that of abandonment in the Divine Will.

Psalm 3 Vol. VIII, June 23, 1907

The most beautiful act, the one that pleases me most
is abandonment in my Will,
but so much as to no longer remember
that one’s own being still exists,
because the Divine Will
has become everything for the soul.

Sorrow for one’s sins is good and praiseworthy;
still, it doesn’t destroy one’s own being.

On the contrary, the complete abandonment
of oneself in my Will
destroys one’s own being
and makes the soul recover the divine being.

So, abandoning itself in my Will,
the soul gives me the greatest honor,
because it gives me everything
that I can require of the creature.

It recovers in me
what had gone out of me.
It recovers the only thing it should recover:
it recovers God with every good that he possesses.

But the soul recovers God
as long as it is completely in the Will of God;
because as it goes out of my Will,
so it gets back its own being
with all the evils of corrupt human nature.

Glory be to the Father…

Ant. 3 The most beautiful act is that of abandonment in the Divine Will.

SHORT READING Vol. VII, July 3, 1906

“The soul that lives in my Will rests, because the Divine Will does everything for it. And while I work for the soul I find the most beautiful rest there. So, the Will of God is rest for the soul and God’s rest in the soul. While it rests in my Will, it is always drawing divine life from my mouth, forming its continuous food.”

RESPONSORIAL Vol. VII, January 20, 1907

G. I only want to love you, *and fulfill your holy Will.

E. I only want to love you, *and fulfill your holy Will.

G. The duty of every creature is to love you,

E. *and fulfill your holy Will.

G. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

E. I only want to love you, *and fulfill your holy Will.
