Week 1 - Night Prayer - Day of St. Joseph

G. O God, come to reign in us.

E. Lord, let your Will come quickly.

Glory be to the Father…..

HYMN Vol. III, April 27, 1900

Soul, how beautiful you are!
But oh, how your
beauty grows in suffering!

How dear you are
to your Creator,
each time he renews in you
the pains of his passion!

Oh, how his eyes are wounded
when he looks at you,
because they perceive
his very same image in you!

Love and reparation,
satisfaction and every praise
be to you gentlest Jesus,
in your holy Will! Amen.

Ant. Give me the freedom to do what I want in you.

Psalm Vol. II, August 9, 1899

The tree that you see
coming out of my heart has three roots:
faith, hope and charity.

You see that the trunk
comes from me and goes into your heart.
This means there is no good that the soul possesses
that does not come from me.

So, after faith, hope and charity,
the first development of this trunk
is to make known that every good comes from God;
that , of itself, the soul doesn’t have anything
but its own nothingness;

and that this nothingness does just one thing:
it gives me the freedom
to enter into it
to do what I want.

There are other nothingnesses, that is,
other souls, that with their own free will
that they have, oppose me.

And so, lacking this knowledge,
the trunk produces neither branches nor fruit,
nor any other good thing.

Glory be to the Father…..

Ant. Give me the freedom to do what I want in you.

SHORT READING Vol. IV, March 17, 1903

“Certain storms are useful. What’s more, I myself provoke them, because I want to find souls in possession of a stable and true peace. As for example, when I bring about the storms of temptation in souls, and they fight the vices to find themselves in possession of the virtues, true peace is established in them. This is how it will be for the world. What’s more, even stronger storms must come, otherwise peace will never be obtained.”

RESPONSORIAL Vol. IV, February 10, 1901

G. Obedience *is very long-sighted.

E. Obedience *is very long-sighted.

G. It is more beautiful and intense than the very light of the sun.

E. *is very long-sighted.

G. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

E. Obedience *is very long-sighted.

Ant. Blessed is the soul that lives in the Divine Will; all generations will call it blessed.

Canticle (Spiritual testament of Luisa)

Ant. Blessed is the soul that lives in the Divine Will; all generations will call it blessed.

PRAYER
Oh most holy Will of God, bring to an end the age-long cross upon which the cruelty of the human will has extended you, so that stripped of the clothes of sin and dressed with the clothes of grace everyone can raise up a continuous song of divine love to you.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May the Lord put an end to the night of the human will, and let us rest in the divine.
Amen.
